The Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) is actively considering to set up Pakistan Apparels Export Council to facilitate business community of the country.
Talking to APP, PRGMEA central chairman Ijaz A Khokhar said that the association has completed the initial work for the establishment of the proposed council. A board will be constituted, comprising members from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and textile ministry and stakeholders for finding out ways to enhance export volume of the garment sector.
PRGMEA is making strenuous efforts to enhance garment exports up to $8 billion by 2020 with the active cooperation of the business community, Khokhar added. Necessary arrangements are being finalised to set up Pakistan Readymade Technical Training Institute, costing over Rs175 million in Sialkot,he said, adding that a suitable site for the proposed training institute has been selected and development work on the project will soon be undertaken
